Welcome. We're so glad you found us. We just finished our first summer season running the resort and are now offering one cabin for year-round rentals. It's a spacious, newly remodeled log cabin and will be great for families or groups of ice-fishing & snowmobiling enthusiasts.

A little about us:
Tony, originally from the Salol area, was a guide on Lake of the Woods for more than 30 years. He is now the UPS driver for the NW Angle and Islands, in addition to managing the resort's maintenance, hocking bait, readying boats and lending a hand doing just about everything.
Kellie grew up in Warroad and later on the West Coast, but she's been running her grandparent's well-worn trails, catching leaches and jumping off the docks at Prothero's since she was a child. She runs the business, cleans cabins, stocks the store and plans the fun, all while managing an ever-changing family. Still, she remembers the wonder this place held for her growing up, and now, for both of them, it's a dream come true to be watching their kiddos discover that same magic now.
History
Here before there was even a road, Dale and Grace, with four generations of family by their side, have painstakingly cared for the resort over the years, building each cabin and nearly all of the furnishings by hand over the course of several decades. The cozy log lodge or "The Post" is situated right on the inlet. With fireplace, hand-crafted log furniture, a gift and snack shop, the lodge fronts the firepit and looks out on the docks, boat launch and the waterfront veranda. Guests and locals often gather for coffee in the mornings or popcorn and visiting in the evening.

Lake of the Woods has over a million acres of inviting water, studded with more than 14,000 islands, and is filled with a fisherman’s bounty of muskie, sauger, bass, and walleye. The area is home to plentiful wildlife as well. Whether you’re coming to fish, bird watch, or just get away from it all and relax, Prothero’s Post is an excellent choice for your Lake of the Woods adventure.
